Things are starting to get real. There are only three weeks left until the Grumpy Grind 3! There are only about 30 riders on the official roster of participants. If you are planning to ride, please send me a note so I can plan accordingly. I realize this is a free event, which makes people ride the fence until they find out exactly what the weather or their fitness is, but let me know even if you are making this event a consideration.
Here are a couple of thoughts that might entice you to make the commitment to ride. The Grumpy Grind offers a great training course for any upcoming gravel grind coming your way. The terrain won't kill you, but the repetitious rolling hills will wear you down. All participants will receive a free water bottle upon registration, and a free meal and beverage at the finish. The first 50 finishers will receive a free Grumpy Grind pint glass (to fill as you see fit). If you want to add to your weekend adventure, you are welcome to camp out the night before on the farmers property. You can pitch a tent in the grass or lay down your inflatable mattress and sleeping bag in the barn. Last year the farmer had a bonfire going, and provided other rural entertainment as well.
This is an event that easily flies under the radar. I do my best to offer an event that is everything that I would want in a gravel grind. Hopefully I'll hear from a few more of you that intend to ride. See you in three weeks!
